UAB (12-8, 5-4 C-USA) is coming off its second straight setback, 67-54 against North Texas on Feb. 7. Kylee Schneringer led the Blazers with 14 points. Destinee McGhee added 13 points and seven rebounds. Margaret Whitley scored 11. UAB is 4-6 on the road this season.
SOUTHERN MISS LATELY
Southern Miss (15-7, 7-4 C-USA) is currently in first place, one game ahead of UAB, with two games at hand. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 60-57 overtime victory against UTSA on Feb. 7. Kelsey Jones hit the game-winner with 3.3 seconds remaining in overtime that broke a tie. Southern Miss is 10-2 at Reed Green Coliseum this season.
UAB AND SOUTHERN MISS HISTORY
Southern Miss is UAB’s most played opponent in program history, as the teams have met 67 times. Each of UAB’s six head coaches had competed against Southern Miss beginning in 1979 with Fran Braash. The series has been played in five venues and in three different states. USM leads the series 40-27 and 24-9 at Reed Green Coliseum. Southern Miss scored the most points against UAB in program history when they poured in 117 on Feb. 4, 1984. In that same game, the then-Lady Blazers scored 103, which was the third most in program history at the time. Of the 67 games, 36 of those have been decided by 10-or fewer points.
LAST TIME AGAINST SOUTHERN MISS
UAB swept the season series on Jan. 8 and Jan. 9 of last year, winning both contests by a total of 41 points. In the opener, Caitlynn Daniels scored a then-career-high 21 points to lead UAB to an 85-63 victory. The following day, Margaret Whitley had a game-high 27 points in the Blazers’ 84-65 win.
COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and Southern Miss have 13 common opponents this season. Both the Blazers and Golden Eagles have played Samford, Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas Pine Bluff in nonconference action.

Weathersby is fifth in the NCAA with 15 double-doubles, 15th with 11.2 rebounds per game and 11th with 4.4 offensive rebounds per game. She ranks first in Conference USA in shooting percentage (55.6%), and total rebounds (225) She’s second in the league in blocks per game (1.7), third in total blocks (33) and is fourth in field goals made (120).

Emily Klaczek set a career-high with 26 points in UAB’s 86-70 win over WKU on Jan. 27. She scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter, going 5-for-5 from the field, 4-of-4 from 3-point range and a pair of foul shots.
EIGHT IS ENOUGH
In Daniels career day against MVSU, she drained eight 3-pointers. This is the most in C-USA this season and tied for the 10th most in the NCAA this season.
