BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University football team was in full pads for the first time this preseason on Tuesday. The Owls used the opportunity to get in as much work as possible. Despite it being the first day of full contact, despite competing in every drill for both individual and room pride, the Owls crossed the field like they have done each day this preseason to shake hands, as a sign of respect for each other.
QUOTABLE
Brent Dearmon
First media availability this fall
“There’s a little bit of install still but right now it’s more polished. You want guys to be crisper than they were in the spring. You want guys to communicate better than they were in the spring. So, we’ve tried to really slow it down and let those guys come back for a second time doing what we did in spring ball, getting really good at it. Be elite with the little things, the details, the steps they take, where their eyes are with the path and the track they take.”
Quarterback
Willie Taggart, Jr.
His play and confidence have made a jump, what is it about Dearmon’s offense that has allowed that?
“Nothing in the offense particularly, just the way he [Brent Dearmon] teaches. He simplifies it. He was a geometry teacher once, so he’s just teaching us like a real teacher in the classroom. We’re sitting there taking notes and it’s just like another day in school. It makes it easy to learn.”
