IRVING, Texas – The field is set for the 2025 American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship with the UTSA Roadrunners having earned the No. 1 seed. The Championship will take place March 8-12. The first-round matchup will be played at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas, while the final four rounds of the Championship will be played at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, for the fifth consecutive year.
The Roadrunners, along with North Texas, South Florida and Temple, earn a double bye in the tournament as the top four seeds. Tulsa will be the No. 5 seed, followed by Tulane (6 seed), East Carolina (7 seed), UAB (8 seed), Rice (9 seed), Memphis (10 seed), Wichita State (11 seed), Charlotte (12 seed) and Florida Atlantic (13 seed). Charlotte and Florida Atlantic will play in the first-round game at the Super Pit.

UTSA (26-3) earned the No. 1 seed in the championship for the first time after claiming their first outright American Athletic Conference regular season championship. The Roadrunners have won a program-record 26 games and finished a perfect 13-0 at home. UTSA will begin play Monday in the quarterfinal round against either No. 8-seeded UAB (16-14) or No. 9-seeded Rice (14-16) at 1 p.m. ET/noon CT. The Blazers and Owls will play on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT.
North Texas (23-7) earned the No. 2 seed in the championship for a second straight season. The Mean Green tied a program record with 23 wins, which was set a season ago. North Texas, which has a double-bye to Monday’s quarterfinals, will await the winner of Sunday’s second-round matchup between No. 7-seeded East Carolina (16-14) and No. 10-seeded Memphis (7-22). The Pirates and Tigers will play on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
South Florida (20-10) enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed and a double-bye in the tournament. South Florida will play its tournament opener Monday at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT against the winner of No. 6-seeded Tulane (16-12 and No. 11-seeded Wichita State (10-21). The Green Wave and Shockers will play on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
Temple (19-10) claimed the final double-bye in the championship, ending the season on a six-game winning streak. It marks their second straight season with a double bye. The Owls will play their first game on Monday at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT and take on No. 5-seeded Tulsa (17-13), No. 12-seeded Charlotte (9-20) or No. 13-seeded Florida Atlantic (11-20). The 49ers and Owls open the tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET/noon CT at the Super Pitt in Denton, Texas, with the winner advancing to take on Temple on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT.
Tuesday’s semifinals are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. and 8 p.m. CT).
The March 12 championship final will be televised on ESPNU, while all games of the 2025 American Championship will be available on ESPN+
The winner of the 2025 American Women’s Basketball Championship will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.
