BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football has unveiled a new black helmet design to debut on Friday night when the Owls host South Florida at FAU Stadium for Homecoming. In conjunction, limited-edition replica mini helmets will be on sale Friday at the stadium.
Sure to be a collector’s item, the special mini helmets will feature the same Owls script branding in red on each side and a red face mask. They will be on sale at each stadium store location for $40 while supplies last. Only 150 will be made available to the public, and each helmet is individually numbered for authenticity.
No advanced sales will be accepted, and in-person sales will be limited to two per customer. Stadium stores are in three locations at FAU Stadium — adjacent to Gate 2 (opens at 4 p.m.), on the Hyundai Deck (opens at 5:30 p.m.), and a mobile shop adjacent to Gates 3 and 4 (opens at 4:30 p.m.). General stadium gates open Friday at 6 p.m.
With the team wearing all black jerseys trimmed in red, the Owls are encouraging fans to wear red for Friday’s showdown against their cross-state, intra-conference rival. In addition to the game-day sales of the mini helmets, the FAU Campus Store has on sale now a red Defend Paradise t-shirt. The shirt will also be available on game day at the stadium.
Florida Atlantic’s traditional helmet includes the school’s state of Florida logo on one side with its paradise-themed iconic palm tree on the other. This will be the first time the team has worn black helmets with the script Owls branding.
Tickets are still available for Friday’s game versus USF by visiting FAUsports.com or calling 1-866-FAU-OWLS. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in a nationally-televised game on ESPN2.
