Florida Atlantic once again boasts talent across the professional ranks, with three on an active 53-man roster and five currently on a practice squad. Here is a preview of each player’s upcoming season (All gametimes listed below are Eastern.): Active Owls (3) #0 Azeez Al-Shaair | LB | Houston Texans – Al-Shaair begins his seventh year in the NFL and year two in Houston under a three-year $34 million contract. Making 11 starts, he recorded 70 tackles with seven for a loss along with four pass breakups, two sacks and two forced fumbles. Once again, he has been selected as a team captain. Rams – Sunday, 4:25 p.m. (CBS) #91 Trey Hendrickson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals – The NFL’s reigning sack champion is back in Cincinnati with a revised contract that makes him the seventh highest paid edge rusher in the league. For the second consecutive season, he registered 17.5 sacks, 3.5 more than the closest player, and added 19 TFLs and six pass deflections. Hendrickson continues to be recognized as one of the top players in the sport, acknowledged by the league itself. Playing in 15 games with five starts in ’24, he tallied 437 yards on the ground to go with four touchdowns. First Game: at Washington – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX) Practice Squad (6) #58 Evan Anderson | DT | San Francisco 49ers – Anderson will start the season on the 49ers’ practice squad for the second straight year. He will look to get another call up like in ’24, where he appeared in 12 games and made a start. The 23-year-old made 24 tackles and recorded a sack. #88 Harrison Bryant | TE | Houston Texans – Bryant reunites with his teammate Al-Shaair from their conference championship days. Now in his sixth season, he joins his fourth team. Bryant made three starts for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024 and hauled in nine receptions for 86 yards. #62 Federico Maranges | C | Seattle Seahawks – Following his six years at Florida Atlantic, Maranges’ remarkable football journey will continue professionally with the Seahawks. He is a member of the International Pathway Player program, allowing him to be on the roster without counting towards a 16-man or 53-man spot. #84 Zaire Mitchell-Paden | TE | Baltimore Ravens – Mitchell-Paden begins year two with Ravens’ practice squad. It is his fourth season overall. #42 James Pierre | CB | Pittsburgh Steelers – Pierre is once again with the Steelers, this time starting out as a practice squad member. In his fifth season in ’24, he made 15 appearances with two starts and had an interception. #73 Brandon Walton | OT | Carolina Panthers – For the second year in a row, Walton is a member of the Panthers’ practice squad.
