FAU wins 56 to 14

The Florida Atlantic University football team completely dominated Florida A & M 56 to14 and earned Head Coach Zach Kittley his first career win.

Quarterback Caden Veltkamp had five touchdown passes and the Owls scored four touchdowns on their first four drives.

The first score happened after wide receiver Dominque Henry had a diving catch to score a touchdown. This was followed by a two point conversion. 

The next score was exciting as FAMU’s punt was blocked by Josh Roberts and Lawrence Johnson picked up the ball in the endzone to up the score to 15-0. The Owls added another touchdown before the end of the quarter as Veltkamp connected with wider receive Assad Waseem from 12 yards.

The Owls scored again in the second quarter, with Veltkamp hitting  Jayshon Platt and Henry for his third and fourth passing touchdowns of the half, as FAU ended the half with a 39-0 advantage.
The Owls found scored two more touchdowns in the second half  first with Waseem’s second touchdown of the evening late in the third quarter, then with running back Kaden Shields-Dutton’s first career touchdown in the fourth.
Veltkamp finished 27-for-39 with 309 yards and five touchdowns. Gemari Sands was the game’s leading rusher with 83 yards on 10 carries. Platt led the way in receiving with five receptions and 56 yards, both career highs.

Defensive back Wendol Philford broke up two passes and Willy Denaud and Leon Hart,Jr. each had a sack.
