DETROIT PISTONS’ MOTOR CITY RIVALS PARTNERS WITH A KID AGAIN TO HOST CHARITY ROCKET LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

All proceeds from the 1v1 tournament will benefit local charity

DETROIT, MI — May 14, 2024 — Motor City Rivals, the official gaming community of the Detroit Pistons, announced that they will host a Rocket League Tournament on Friday, May 17, in partnership with A Kid Again, as the first charity tournament hosted by the platform.

The tournament, hosted on Rival, will give fans a chance to compete for a grand prize of $1,000 with the runner-up receiving Pistons Gaming Team merchandise. Fans can sign up at Motor City Rivals & A Kid Again Charity Rocket League Tournament | Rival X for a $10 registration fee and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Michigan chapter of A Kid Again, a charity dedicated to serving families that are raising children with life-threatening conditions. Non-participating fans can also donate directly to the charity.

“We are excited to partner with A Kid Again to host our first charity event on Motor City Rivals and make an immediate impact in our Michigan community,” Detroit Pistons Vice President of Marketing Operations Mike Donnay said. “Through this collaboration, we aim to extend our valuable partnership with an outstanding charity to help increase awareness for their efforts to foster hope, happiness and healing for children with life-threatening conditions.”

The Detroit Pistons and A Kid Again have previously partnered to host over 1,000 children and their family members for on-court experiences at Pistons games in 2022 and 2023. As special guests of the Pistons, select A Kid Again children were chosen to stand on court with both teams for the singing of the National Anthem, and an additional number of children and their families were selected to participate in the pregame Fan Tunnel and enjoyed exclusive in-game experiences.

The single-elimination Rocket League tournament will take place on Friday, May 17 at 8 p.m. (EST). Entrants will play 1v1 matches with initial rounds operating in as best-of-three format and the final two rounds being best-of-five. Streaming is not required and contestants may play on any platform.
