Dallas Wilson Earns a Spot on the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award Watch List

Dallas Wilson enters his first season with the Gators and is already turning heads by being named to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Coming into his freshman season, Dallas Wilson has already been a highly talked about player for the Gators and has earned a spot on the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list.

The Shuan Alexander Freshman of the Year Award is named after Alabama All-American running back Shaun Alexander. Alexander made big strides for the Crimson Tide following his first game against LSU in death valley in 1996, where he gathered four touchdowns with 291 rushing yards and set the University of Alabama’s single-game rushing record which still stands today. The award is given to college football’s most outstanding freshman player.

Coming out of high school as a five-star recruit, the Gators flipped Wilson from his prior commitment to the University of Oregon. The No. 2 ranked wide receiver for the Class of 2025 by On3 Industry Rankings and was the No. 3 player in the state of Florida by 247 Sports.

In his entire high school career, Wilson accumulated 130 receptions for 2424 yards, 30 touchdowns and was good for 18.6 yards per catch. When ranked by Andrew Ivins out of high school, he was compared to fellow wide receiver out of Tampa, Fla. Eugene Wilson III, who had a stellar freshman season for the Gators two years ago.

Wilson is expected to make a major impact with the team and provide more depth to the team’s strong wide receiver room. After enrolling early at UF, Wilson showed some of this impact in the team’s spring game where he grabbed 10 catches for 195 yards.
