Country versus Motown in Week 8

By: Jeremy T. Ballreich

Week Eight in the NFL is upon us, and
the Tennessee Titans (1-5) are coming
to face-off versus the Detroit Lions (5-
1). The Titans enter the contest with a
6-0 record versus Detroit, since they
entered the league. With their last
meeting in 2020 (Matt Patricia Era,
ew!)

This year’s Lions are all about breaking
winning streaks against them with a
vengeance. 42-29 over the Six in a row
Seahawks. 47-9 over the Six in a row
Cowboys.

Everyone was trying to write off the

Lions after losing star defensive end
Aidan Hutchinson in week Six. But
Aarin Glenn and the defense told the
Vikings to hold their beer, as they
manufactured 4 sacks from the
defense in a 31-29 win over the Vikings
in week Seven.

The Titans are missing a few key
players as well. Their Starting LT
Jaelyn Duncan, Starting CB1 L’Jarius
Sneed, Starting LBer Cedric Gray, plus
the just traded away DeAndre Hopkins
WR, and another Starting LBer in
Earnest Jones. Will Levis is also
sidelined for BU QB Mason Rudolph.
While all that makes is sound easy. It’s
the NFL, and every player on every
team is more athletic than 95% of the

world that watches them.

Other than the guys on the IR, the only
player missing for the Lions that’s a
starter now, is Josh Paschal Defensive
End. He issued a statement about his
yearly check up after beating Cancer.
Which has led to a loss of strength
issue. He’s expected to return in Week
Nine.

Statistically, the Lions have one of the
most potent offenses in the league
(2nd). The Lions are also the 3rd
highest scoring offense. And a slowly
improving defense, that is getting very
stingy in the Red Zone the last four
weeks. Only two TDs given up, and a
season average of 47.1% scoring
against the RZ defense. Collectively
the Lions average 18th in the league
defensively. With 12 total Touchdowns
against.

The Titans are the 1st ranked defense
in the NFL for yardage against, but
have given up 15 TDs. Their Offense
has been the issue for the Titans. They
rank 29th in yardage gained, and 27th
in scoring.

While some people think this could be
a trap game. I feel it is a can’t lose
situation while they evaluate which
move is best for the defense next
week.

If everything goes right:
Titans 10
Lions 42

If it falls apart
Titans 17
Lions 28
