CADE CUNNINGHAM NAMED TO EASTERN CONFERENCE ALL-STAR TEAM

DETROIT, Mich. (Jan. 30, 2025) – The NBA announced today that Pistons guard Cade Cunningham was named as a 2025 Eastern Conference NBA All-Star reserve. This marks Cunningham’s first NBA All-Star selection.

Cunningham (6-6, 230) holds season averages of 25.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 9.3 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field and 36% from 3-point range in 43 games. His 9.3 assists per game ranks third in the NBA and is the highest average by a Piston since Isiah Thomas (10.0, 1986-87). Cunningham is currently orchestrating just the 17th season in NBA history of at least 25.0 PTS, 9.0 AST and 6.0 REB per game and would become just the seventh player in history to post those averages in a season. Cunningham is one of only eight players in NBA history to hold career averages of at least 21.0 PTS, 7.0 AST and 5.0 REB.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Cunningham ranks third in the NBA with seven triple-doubles this season (LeBron James, Nikola Jokic) and his 20 point-assist double-doubles also rank third in the association (Trae Young, Jokic). Cunningham and Jokic are the only players in the NBA this season averaging at least 25.0 PTS, 9.0 AST and 6.0 REB per game and the Pistons guard ranks second in the NBA with games of at least 20 points, five assists and five rebounds, with 28.

In addition to being the first player in Pistons history to average at least 25.0 points, 9.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds in a season, Cunningham joins Blake Griffin, Dave Bing and Grant Hill as the only Pistons players to average 20+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists in a season. Cunningham is on pace to become the first player since Oscar Robertson in 1962 to average at least 25.0 points, 9.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds before turning 24 years old.

The Arlington, Texas, native ranks sixth in franchise history (min. 100 games) with 21.2 career points per game, third with 7.1 assists per game, fourth with 1.9 3-pointers made per game and second with nine triple-doubles.

Cunningham is the first Detroit Pistons draft pick to make an NBA All-Star game since Andre Drummond in 2018 and the first Pistons player to appear in the NBA All-Star game since Blake Griffin in 2019.

The reserves for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game were selected by NBA head coaches. The 74th NBA All-Star Game, which will feature a new tournament-style format with players divided into four teams, is set for Sunday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. ET inside Chase Center in San Francisco.
