DALLAS – After rushing for 120 yards and three more touchdowns in the Blazers’ win over North Texas, UAB RB DeWayne McBride was voted C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. UAB DB Devodric Bynum took home Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this year following an impressive performance in the win over the Mean Green on Saturday afternoon. WKU PR Jaylen Hall was named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time this season after bringing a punt back for a touchdown in WKU’s win over Rice. The 2022 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.
With 120 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-21 win over North Texas, McBride set the single season school record in rushing touchdowns with 17. The nation’s leading rusher, McBride tallied his 10th consecutive 100-yard rushing game and he is now averaging 156.3 yards per game. Along with leading the country in rushing yards per game, he is second nationally with 17 rushing touchdowns.
Bynum had a career day in UAB’s 41-21 victory over North Texas with eight tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass break-ups, one sack and a forced fumble, which UAB recovered in the red zone. Bynum led a defensive effort that held the league’s top-ranked offense to 239 yards under their average as North Texas only managed 264 yards of total offense in the game.
Hall had a huge all-around day for WKU in its 45-10 victory over Rice. From a special teams perspective, Hall returned a punt 46 yards for a touchdown to help the Hilltoppers put the game out of reach. Additionally, Hall hauled in seven passes for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the afternoon.
