YOUNGSVILLE, La. – After a thrilling three days in Youngsville, Louisiana, the No. 1 seed and No. 16 ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team defeated No. 2 seed Tulane, 3-1, to capture the 2025 Conference USA Championship title on Saturday at Sugar Beach.
The championship marks the second CUSA championship and third overall for the Sandy Owls.
Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova continued their dominate weekend, securing the Owls’ first point with a straight-set sweep at the No. 1 position, 21-14, 21-13. Tulane tied up the match at one after claiming a two-set win on court three. Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova pushed FAU back in front, 2-1, claiming a two-set sweep on court two, 21-18, 21-19. The Sandy Owls’ final point came on court five as Kendall Mignerey and Shantel Starling clinched the win, claiming a three-set victory, 21-16, 13-21, 15-13, to secure the 2025 CUSA Championship.

NOTABLES
The championship marks the second CUSA championship and third all-time for the Sandy Owls.
Mignerey and Starling were named the CUSA Pair of the Tournament and CUSA All-Tournament Team.
Adams and Svozilova & Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova were also honored with CUSA All-Tournament Team Honors.
The duo went a perfect 4-0 during the CUSA Tournament and have now tied the program’s single-season pair record with a 25-5 record this season.
McLaughlin and Honzovicova also finished the tournament 4-0, improving to an impressive 13-2 as a pair, which ranks second on the team.
Mignerey and Starling improved to 3-2 as a pair and finished 2-1 in the tournament.
