| 6/25/2024 | Women’s Beach Volleyball BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball’s Ashleigh Adams, Kate McLaughlin, Julie Honzovicova, Courtney Moon, and Marketa Svozilova were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday.The honor marks the second consecutive for Honzovicova after earning the accolade following the 2023 season, and the first career honors for Adams, McLaughlin, Moon and Svozilova.Julie Honzovicova, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, finished second on the team with a 22-14 record this season, earning CUSA First Team All-Conference honors. Honzovicova produced a season-best pair record of 13-7 alongside Ashleigh Adams. The duo went 6-4 on court one for the Sandy Owls, including earning a win over No. 3-seed Tulane during the CUSA Championship semifinals, and going 4-2 on court three and 3-1 on court two. Honzovicova earned ranked wins over No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 16 Georgia State, No. 5 TCU, No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Cal, No. 20 Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, No. 10 LMU, and No. 14 FIU. Honzovicova received CUSA Pair of the Week honors with Adams on April 3, 2024, after earning wins against No. 2 UCLA and No. 6 Cal. The marketing major currently holds a 3.73 GPA.Ashleigh Adams, from Newtown, Pa., received CUSA First Team All-Conference honors after producing a team season-leading and career-best 23-12 record. Adams produced a season-best pair record of 13-7 teaming up with Julie Honzovicova. The duo went 6-4 on court one for the Sandy Owls, including earning a win over No. 3-seed Tulane during the CUSA Championship semifinals, and going 4-2 on court three and 3-1 on court two. Adams earned ranked wins this season over No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 18 Arizona State, No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Cal, No. 20 Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, No. 10 LMU, and No. 14 FIU. She was named CUSA Pair of the Week with Honzovicova on April 3, 2024, after earning two of the biggest wins of her career against No. 2 UCLA and No. 6 Cal at the Death Volley Invitational. She was also named to the 2024 CUSA All-Academic Team. The elementary education major currently boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA.Kate McLaughlin, a native of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., tied for fourth on the team with a 19-15 record during the 2024 campaign. McLaughlin produced a season-best pair record of 7-3 with teammate Logan Mignerey, including going 3-1 during the CUSA Championship with two dual-clinching wins against UTEP and No. 14 FIU, and defeating No. 6 TCU. In addition to her wins over No. 14 FIU and No. 6 TCU in the CUSA Championship, McLaughlin also secured ranked wins this season against No. 17 South Carolina, No. 12 & No. 16 Georgia State, No. 5 TCU, No. 20 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and twice against No. 14 FIU. The exercise science and health promotion major boasts an impressive 3.96 GPA.Courtney Moon, from Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, finished third on the Sandy Owls with a 21-15 record, earning CUSA Second Team All-Conference recognition. Moon produced a team season-best pair record of 15-10 teaming up with Marketa Svozilova, including going 2-1 during the 2024 CUSA Championship. The duo produced a team season-best 10-8 record on court one and went 4-2 on court two. Courtney secured ranked victories against No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 16 Stetson, and No. 14 FIU. The mechanical engineering major graduated with an impressive 3.51 GPA.Marketa Svozilova, a native of Brno, Czech Republic, was named CUSA First Team All-Conference, going 18-17 in 2024. Svozilova produced a team season-best pair record of 15-10 alongside Courtney Moon, including going 2-1 during the 2024 CUSA Championship. The duo produced a team season-best 10-8 record on court one and a 4-2 record on court two. Svozilova tallied ranked wins against No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 16 Stetson, and No. 14 FIU. The psychology major currently holds an impressive 3.95 GPA.
