Bulls in the Pros: Sanders Getting into Groove at Triple-A

The righty was promoted in early August and has been strong over his last few outings

TAMPA, AUG. 16, 2019 – With Minor League seasons wrapping up in two weeks, former USF baseball standouts look to finish 2019 strong.

Sanders Back at it in Durham
The right hander was originally promoted to the Triple-A Durham Bulls on July 31 after an exceptional year with the Montgomery Biscuits (3-3, 1.81 ERA, 15 saves, 57 strikeouts). He was then sent back down on Aug. 2 and recalled to Durham on Aug. 7. Sanders has been locked in over his last three outings. He has seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings out of the bullpen over the span, allowing just one hit.

Eveld Sharp with the Jumbo Shrimp

Tommy Eveld has been back-and-forth between the Triple-A New Orleans Baby Cakes and Double-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp this season, playing in 18 games at each level. He’s been strong in Jacksonville of late, striking out six over his last three outings. Eveld has gone 3-for-3 on save opportunities since Aug. 9. He struck out the side on Aug. 10 and fanned two on Aug. 9. He has seven saves with 29 strikeouts for the Jumbo Shrimp this year.
