Broward Public Schools hires people a variety of jobs
About 1,200 aspiring candidates walked into Western High School on February 26 seeking employment and more than 250 of them walked out as the newest members of the Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) family.
BCPS held its first Districtwide Career Fair, focused on filling roughly 1,200 vacancies, including teachers, classroom/teacher assistants, counselors, bus drivers, security staff, custodians, food service workers and other positions. Representatives from more than 80 schools and eight BCPS departments met with qualified applicants, conducted interviews on site and made job offers on the spot. Hundreds of attendees filled out applications and submitted their resumes to be evaluated by staff. Additional qualified applicants are being contacted for interviews.
“I am extremely pleased with the success of our first Districtwide Career Fair,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Vickie L. Cartwright. “The pandemic created significant staffing needs throughout the District and left many qualified professionals looking for employment. We are happy to welcome all the new staff members to BCPS.”
Among the newly hired are 47 teachers and counselors, 44 educational support professionals, 95 safety and security personnel, 37 food service workers and 18 transportation employees. In addition to sign-on bonuses offered for some positions, BCPS offers excellent benefits, 100% paid medical insurance for employees and the Florida Retirement System plan to all personnel
