The Florida Department of Education released district grades, showing Broward County Public Schools is an A-rated school district once again. This achievement reaffirms the District’s commitment to academic excellence and its positive impact on student outcomes.
In addition, the state also released grades earned by individual schools. In the 2024/25 school year, 96% of District-operated schools either maintained or increased their school grade. BCPS is excited to have earned 110 A grades, 69 B grades and 34 C grades. This marks the second year in a row that BCPS has no D or F-rated schools since the state began assigning grades to schools in 1999.
Among top highlights of today’s announcement: More than half of BCPS-operated schools are now A-rated. Out of the five largest school districts in Florida, BCPS is one of two with no D or F-rated schools.
Eight schools improved two letter grades, from a C grade in the 2023/24 school year to an A grade in 2024/25. These schools include Cypress Elementary School, Deerfield Beach High School, Horizon Elementary School, Liberty Elementary School, North Side Elementary School, Ramblewood Elementary School, Rock Island Elementary School and Sunland Park Academy.
26 schools improved from a B grade in the 2023/24 school year to an A grade in 2024/25.
32 schools improved from a C grade in the 2023/24 school year to a B grade in 2024/25.
BCPS has reduced the number of C-rated schools in half – from 70 C-rated schools in 2023/24 to 34 in 2024/25.
“This continued achievement not only validates the hard work within BCPS, but it also signals to families, businesses and the wider community that Broward County offers a top-tier public education system,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “This would not have been possible without the support of our School Board and it’s a direct reflection of the unwavering dedication, passion, and excellence demonstrated every day by our MVPs – our exceptional teachers, school leaders and staff in every corner of our District who help prepare our students to reach their highest potential.”
