BIRMINGHAM – Coming off back-to-back road shutouts and leading UAB into sole possession of first place in Conference USA, Eve Beyer has been named Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced today.
In the Blazers’ 1-0 victory at UTEP on Sept. 29, the senior turned away three shots. She followed that with a five save performance on Oct. 2 – including a huge save with three seconds remaining in the match to preserve the 0-0 draw.
Beyer leads Conference USA in goals against (0.52) and save percentage (.857) and is second in the league with five shutouts. She ranks 27th, 29th and 40th in the NCAA in those categories, respectively.
For her career, she has 12 shutouts, which ranks fourth all-time in program history.
This is Beyer’s third GotW award, as she was honored Oct 14, 2019 and Oct 19, 2021.
“Eve was outstanding for us this past weekend along with her backline counterparts,” said head coach Erica Demers. “To earn TWO shutouts is massive testament for such a hard road swing.”
UAB (7-2-3, 4-0-1 C-USA) returns home to face UTSA (6-3-3, 1-1-2 C-USA) on Oct. 9. Kickoff is at noon.
