FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 22 Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team split Saturday’s doubleheader against the visiting West Alabama Tigers. The Sharks took the first game, defeating UWA 6-1, Matthew Corpas led the offensive effort tallying a pair of extra base hits – a double and home run – while Kyler Heyne earned his first win as a Shark, tossing seven innings with eight strikeouts. NSU dropped the second game of the twin billing 13-7.

- West Alabama scored the games first run, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI double in the first inning.
- Jorge DeGoti got NSU on the board, tying the game, with an RBI single in the bottom half of the frame.
- Matthew Corpas gave the Sharks the lead in the bottom of the second, driving in Ronny Medina with an RBI double.
- Later in the frame Roylan Quevedo added an RBI single, bringing in Corpas, extending the lead to 3-1.
- DeGoti extended the Sharks’ advantage with a solo home run – his second of the season – pushing the advantage to 4-1.
- Corpas added a two-run home run – his second of the campaign – extending the lead to 6-1 in the sixth inning.
- Kyler Heyne picked up his first win of the season, striking out eight, across eight innings of work, before turning the ball over to Pedro Acosta who pitched the final two innings.

- West Alabama opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the second inning, as the Sharks made a pair of miscues.
- Xavier Moronta hit his first home run of the season, cutting the UWA lead to 3-1.
- In the top of the third inning, Justin Wachs drove in Ryan Cainzos with an RBI single, before Boris Pena added a two-run home run, giving NSU a 4-3 lead.
- Moronta extended the rally with an RBI single, plating DeGoti, and giving NSU a 5-3 lead.
- The Tigers scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning, taking an 8-5 lead.
- UWA tacked on five runs across the sixth and seventh innings, extending their lead to 13-5.
- Sam Holthaus, pinch-hitting in the bottom of the seventh, hit his first home run of the season and put the score at 13-7.
