BASE: 2025 Hurricanes Cruise Past Alumni, 14-3

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — On a picture-perfect evening, over 70 Hurricanes baseball alumni gathered at Mark Light Field to come together and share laughs, hugs and vivid memories of their playing days.

With a final score of 14-3, the 2025 Hurricanes baseball team bested their predecessors with newcomer pitcher Griffin Hugus notching the win.

Hugus struck out 10 batters in five innings of work, giving up only an unearned run.

Freshman catcher Evan Taveras went 2-3 on the night, including an impressive bases-clearing double in the sixth that drove in three runs for the 2025 Hurricanes.

Sophomore outfielder Jake Kulikowski went 1-for-2 at the plate, driving in two runs.

Pitchers Jackson Cleveland and Will Smith threw stellar sixth and seventh innings, respectively, fanning all three batters.

The Hurricanes will begin their 2025 campaign on Friday, Feb. 14 against Niagara at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field, with first pitch commencing at 7 p.m.
