CONFERENCE PLAY TURNS TOWARD CONCLUSION

American Conference moves to March with a six-game slate to open the month, highlighted by a pair of noon games on ESPN2 and ESPNU.

BULLS CAN CLINCH #1 SEED, TITLE SHARE WITH WIN

South Florida surged to the top of the standings by winning its last six games to complete February. The Bulls can claim the top seed in the upcoming American Conference Championship Tournament and a share of the league’s regular season crown with a victory Sunday.

HOT AT THE TOP

Tulsa and Wichita State have remained on the heels of the Bulls. Currently tied for second place at 11-5, the Shockers have won four straight games, while the Hurricanes have won three in a row.

UAB and Charlotte, which are locked in a tie for the #4 seed, each have won its last two games heading into action on Sunday. The two teams will then go head-to-head in Charlotte Wednesday night.

CLOSE AT THE BOTTOM

With only the league’s top 10 teams advancing to Birmingham, the fight to clinch a tournament berth is just as compelling. (Tournament bracket Pg. 7).

Tulane, currently in sixth place, has a 1/2-game lead over Florida Atlantic. FAU, Temple, and Memphis are each tied with eight losses. That trio has a 1/2-game lead on North Texas, which is currently 10th.

Rice and East Carolina are each one loss behind the Mean Green.

NOTHING BUT NET

A trio of American Conference teams moved up in the NCAA NET Rankings. including two in the Top 50. Tulsa has a NET of 49, just ahead of South Florida 50.  Wichita State has a NET ranking of 83.
