American Conference Football Release| September 9

  • Six teams from the American sit at 2-0 through two weeks of the season. The only other conferences with at least six 2-0 teams are the ACC (eight), the Big 12 (seven), the Big Ten (14) and the SEC (12). No other conferences have more than two 2-0 teams.
  • Teams from the American are a combined 2-2 against the Big Ten and SEC. Those conferences are a combined 55-5 against all other opponents.
  • South Florida is ranked No. 18 in this week’s Associated Press poll and faces No. 5 Miami (Fla.) Saturday. The last time a No. 18 South Florida squad faced the No. 5-ranked team was Sept. 28, 2007, when the Bulls knocked off West Virginia 21-13.
  • Memphis enters Week 3 with a six-game winning streak, which is tied with Ohio State and Illinois for the nation’s longest active streak. Navy has won five straight, which ties Missouri, TCU, LSU, Louisville and Air Force for fourth.
  • South Florida is the only team in college football to open the 2025 season with three consecutive games against top-25 teams. The Bulls defeated No. 25 Boise State in Week 1, No. 13 Florida in Week 2 and face No. 5 Miami Saturday.
  • South Florida QB Byrum Brown has thrown a school-record 240 consecutive passes without an interception.
  • Memphis, which visits Troy Saturday, has won its last 12 games against opponents from the Sun Belt Conference.
  • Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall is 27-0 in his career when his team outrushes its opponent.
  • North Texas’ 33-30 overtime win at Western Michigan was the Mean Green’s first win in program history in which it did not hold a lead in regulation.
  • Memphis has scored at least 20 points in 42 consecutive games, marking the longest active streak among FBS teams
  • The American has had the FWAA National Defensive Player of the Week in each of the first two weeks of the season. South Florida LB Jhalyn Shuler was the Week 1 winner, while Army S Collin Matteson won in Week 2.
  • UTSA RB Robert Henry has registered four consecutive 100-yard games.
