American Conference Announces Volleyball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, October 5.

Offensive Player of the Week

Maria Clara Andrade, Sr., OH, South Florida

Andrade helped guide the Bulls to a pair of wins over Temple and North Texas, averaging 5.50 points per set, while hitting .293.

Defensive Player of the Week

Annika Thompson, Sr., L, Charlotte

Thompson averaged an impressive 6.88 digs per set to help anchor the 49er defense to a pair of wins over East Carolina and Tulane. She finished with zero errors on 64 total receptions.

Setter of the Week

Brayden Hipp, Sr., S, Tulsa

Hipp paced the Golden Hurricane to a pair of wins over Wichita State, averaging 12.14 assists per set. She finished with zero errors across 192 total attempts.

Freshman of the Week

Maegan Mills, Fr., OH, Tulsa

Mills finished with 4.86 points per set, while hitting .216.  She finished with 20 kills in the road win over Wichita State.

Honorable Mention

Kristen Birmingham, Sr., OH, Charlotte

Birmingham led the 49ers to a pair of wins, averaging 4.88 points per set against East Carolina and Tulane.

Kaia Mateo, Jr., S, Rice

Mateo led Rice to a pair of wins over UAB and Memphis, averaging 10.50 assists per set.

Raegan Richardson, So., S, South Florida

Richardson paced the Bulls with 11.13 assists per set as South Florida improved to 4-0 in conference play.

Kat Cooper, Sr., MB, Tulsa

Cooper hit .404 and averaged 3.29 kills per set to guide Tulsa to two wins.

Olivia Vance, Jr., OH, Tulsa

Vance averaged 1.86 blocks per set, including finishing with 10 total blocks in the sweep of Wichita State on Sunday.
