ROADRUNNERS HANG ON AGAINST MEAN GREEN

The game between first and second place did not disappoint on Tuesday as UTSA held on to a 54-52 win over North Texas in San Antonio. The Mean Green had the ball for the final shot, but UTSA guard Sidney Love blocked the final shot attempt to secure the win for the Roadrunners. With the win, UTSA remains in first place, while North Texas falls to 8-3 in The American and sits in a tie for third place, two games back from UTSA.

SOUTH FLORIDA MOVING UP

The South Florida Bulls picked up two important wins last week, defeating first-place UTSA and second-place North Texas.  With the two wins, the Bulls sit tied for second with the Mean Green with an 8-2 record. The tough stretch for the Bulls will continue as they travel to fifth-place Temple on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.

SNEED’S IMPRESSIVE FRESHMAN SEASON CONTINUES

For a fifth time this season, Tulane’s freshman guard Kendall Sneed has been named The American Freshman of the Week. It is tied for the 5th most wins in a season by an American player. Current East Carolina junior forward Amiya Joyner holds the record with eight wins in a season. Sneed is currently averaging 10.4 points, 4.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game, while shooting at a 41.1 percent clip.

JENKINS, PUISIS NAMED TO MIDSEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCHLIST

UTSA redshirt-senior forward Jordyn Jenkins and South Florida graduate guard Sammie Puisis have been selected to the Ann Meyers Drsydale Award Midsesaon Watch list, announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Monday. The list features 50 standout women’s basketball players from across the country.

AMERICAN IN THE NET

Two teams rank in the top 100 of the NCAA NET rankings. South Florida leads the way at 66, while UTSA is just behind at 72.
