CASSADAY OVERTAKES LEADER BOARD

Following another impressive week, Tulsa’s Kayley Cassaday has moved to the top of The American in kills, points, kills per set and points per set. The outside hitter is averaging 5.58 kills per set and 5.85 points per set. Cassaday ranks second in the nation in both categories. Cassaday and the rest of the Tulsa squad will take on Ole Miss, SFA and Sam Houston this weekend.

DOMINATING DEFENSE

Multiple American teams are ranked in the top ten nationally in defensive categories. Heading into the weekend,  Temple is holding opponents to just .124 hitting percentage – the 5th best in the nation. East Carolina is just behind the Owls at 8th in the nation, holding opponents to .127 hitting percentage.

Tulane leads The American and is 8th in the nation in blocks per set (3.00).  The Green Wave are also just outside the top ten in digs per set, ranking 11th in the country at 17.29 digs per set.

AMERICAN EAST LEADING THE PACK

Three teams in the East Division of The American sit atop the conference standings heading into the final week of non-conference play.  East Carolina, Temple and Florida Atlantic all sit with seven wins on the season.  Florida Atlantic is riding a four-game winning streak, while Temple heads into the weekend having won three straights All three teams will resume action beginning Friday, September 15.

CONFERENCE PLAY ON DECK

American squads will play their final non-conference tournament matches.  Next week will begin American Athletic Conference matches, beginning on Wednesday, September 20.
