FLORIDA ATLANTIC CLIMBS THE RANKINGS
Following wins over (RV) Ole Miss and No. 25 Clemson to begin the season, Florida Atlantic has jumped into the Top 25 in multiple polls. The Owls are ranked 18th in the D1Softball rankings, 19th in Softball America , 25th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll and are receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.
Wichita State Shockers are also receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.

American teams from around the conference dominated opening weekend, going a combined 39-11 (.780) across 50 games. Four teams finished the weekend undefeated – Florida Atlantic (6-0), Memphis (5-0), UTSA (5-0) and Wichita State (5-0), while eight of the ten teams in the league concluded opening weekend with a winning record.
RANKED GAMES AHEAD
Another packed weekend of ranked opponents awaits American squads from around the league. Wichita State will have one of the toughest weekend schedules in the country, facing No. 23/24 Kentucky and No. 5 Texas A&M on Thursday, while also taking on No. 8/9 Florida State on Saturday night. Charlotte will also have a good schedule, facing off against No. 4 UCLA and (RV) Liberty on Friday before taking on (RV) Auburn on Saturday and No. 5 Texas A&M on Sunday. North Texas adds to the ranked opponents with a match up against No. 19 Mississippi State on Friday, while Tulsa will take on No. 6/9 Tennessee on Saturday.
AMERICAN IN THE LEADERBOARDS
The American took care of offense and defense last weekend as six team rank in the Top 100 in the NCAA in team ERA and in scoring. Florida Atlantic (9th – 0.85), Wichita State (13th – 1.06), South Florida (35th – 1.75), UAB (44th – 1.87), Memphis (65th – 2.26) and East Carolina (66th – 2.33) all rank in the Top 100 in ERA. Memphis (3rd – 11.0), Wichita State (37th – 7.4), Florida Atlantic (62nd – 6.33), UAB (64th – 6.2), UTSA (64th – 6.2) and North Texas (70th – 6.0) all rank in the top 100 in scoring.
