American Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Release - September 19

American Athletic Conference play will begin this Friday with a quadruple set of games. Friday night, FIU will travel to South Florida at 7 p.m. (ET), while Memphis will travel to Tulsa at 8 p.m. (ET). The weekend will end when No. 19 Charlotte heads to Temple on Saturday at 7 p.m., and Florida Atlantic takes on UAB at 8 p.m.

Charlotte Shutouts

The Charlotte 49ers have been impressive at home, heading back to last season. With a 1-0 win over (RV) Campbell on Tuesday, the 49ers recorded their 7th straight home shutout, dating back to October 13 of last season. During that time frame, Charlotte has outscored opponents 15-0.

With The Save…

The American features two goalkeepers who are Top 10 in the nation in saves per game. Temple’s Flannan Riley is 4th in the NCAA with 5.75 saves per game, while FIU’s Nigel Van Haveren is 6th in the nation at 5.67 saves per game.

49ers Stay Ranked

With a 4-0-2 record on the season, the Charlotte 49ers stayed ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, coming in at No. 19 for a second straight week.

Panthers Earn Top 10 Win

The FIU Panthers took down the No. 10-ranked UCF Knights in a thrilling 4-3 victory behind three second half goals to hand the Knights their first loss of the season. Midfielder Diego Castillo’s free-kick in the 65th minute sealed the game for FIU.
