Tulane, SMU and UTSA enter Week 12 tied for first place in The American standings at 6-0 in conference play. Memphis sits a game back at 5-1.
Two of those four teams will play in the 2023 American Athletic Conference Football Championship Game. The participating teams and game site will not be determined until Week 13.
Upcoming games between those four teams include SMU at Memphis (Saturday, noon ET/ESPN2) and UTSA at Tulane (Friday, Nov. 24, 3:30 p.m. ET/ABC).
Tulane, which plays at Florida Atlantic Saturday, has won nine consecutive road games, which ranks as the second-longest active streak nationally (Georgia- 13).
SMU is 6-0 in conference play for the first time since a 7-0 start in 1982, when the Mustangs started 7-0 as part of a 7-0-1 finish in the Southwest Conference.
UTSA has won its last 14 regular-season conference games and 16 straight games against conference opponents, including regular-season and postseason play.
Memphis has scored at least 20 points in 24 consecutive games, marking the longest active streak among FBS teams.
East Carolina K Andrew Conrad tied an NCAA record by becoming the third FBS player – and the second from the American Athletic Conference – to make five field goals from 40 yards or longer in a game, joining Alan Smith of Texas A&M vs. Arkansas State, 9/17/83 and Riley Patterson of Memphis vs. Penn State, 12/28/19, in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.
