American Athletic Conference Announces Volleyball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 29.

Offensive Player of the Week

Maria Clara Andrade, Jr., OH, South Florida

Andrade led the Bulls to a 2-0 start to conference play, averaging 6.17 points per set and 5.33 kills per set while hitting .273 against Charlotte and East Carolina.

Defensive Player of the Week

Priscilla Jones, Sr., MB, North Texas

Jones averaged 1.43 blocks per set in a pair of wins over UTSA and Tulane to help the Mean Grean begin conference play with a 2-0 record.

Setter of the Week

Caroline Dykes, Sr., S, South Florida

Dykes paced the Bulls with 11.67 assists per set. Against East Carolina, she surpassed the 3,500 assist mark for her career.

Freshman of the Week

Natalie Depaula, RS, Florida Atlantic

Depaula averaged 2.86 kills per set while hitting .429 from the right side. She finished with double-digit kills in both matches for the Owls.

Honorable Mention

Aryn Johnson, Sr., OH, North Texas

Johnson led the Mean Green to a pair of conference wins with 3.71 points per set, while hitting .224.

Cindy Tchouangwa, So., OH, Rice

Tchouangwa led the Owls with 31 kills (3.88 k/s) in wins over Tulane and UTSA, while hitting .343 on the weekend.

Tytiana Johnson, Sr., MB, Tulsa

Johnson averaged 2.44 points per set with a .519 hitting percentage, while adding .88 blocks per set on the defensive side.

Marta Pecalli, Sr., L, Tulsa

Pecalli anchored the Tulsa defense with 5.75 digs per set to help lead the Golden Hurricane to a pair of conference wins.

Emerson Wilford, Jr., OH, Wichita State

Wilford averaged 3.88 points per set with a .282 hitting percentage to lead the Shockers to wins over Memphis and Temple.
