American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, October 6.

Offensive Player of the Week

Adam Yousfi, Jr., M, Memphis

Yousfi came off the bench and connected on the game-winning goal to lift the Tigers past No. 9 Charlotte.

Defensive Player of the Week

Jackson Kim, Gr., D, Memphis

Kim was part of the backline that held No. 9 Charlotte to just three shots on goal in the Tigers 1-0 win on Saturday.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Felix Schaefer, Gr., South Florida

Shaefer recorded a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Temple, finishing with five saves in his third shutout of the season.

Freshman of the Week

Ryan Ruguaru, Fr., M, Memphis

Playing a defensive midfield role, Ruguaru helped limit No. 9 Charlotte to just three shots on goal in the 1-0 Memphis victory.


Honorable Mention

Driss Nasser, Fr., M, FIU

Nasser logged the game-winning assist in the 3-2 win over UAB.

Leo Vilchis, Jr., D, FIU

Vilchis scored a goal and posted an assist in FIU’s win over UAB

Nicholas Villalobos, Jr., M, FIU

Villalobos scored a pair of goals in the 3-2 win over UAB on Saturday, including the game-winner in the second half.

Filip Sabatti, Jr., GK, Memphis

Sabatti earned six saves on the week, recording a pair of clean sheets in 1-0 wins over Belmont and No. 9 Charlotte.

Jalen Anderson, Gr., F, South Florida
