American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the 16th week of the regular season.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Xavier Bell, Sr., G, Wichita State

Bell led the Shockers to a pair of wins on the week by averaging 23.5 points and 2.5 rebounds. He scored nine of Wichita State’s last 14 points and had 24 total in a road win at Florida Atlantic on Thursday, February 20, before scoring another 23 points in a win at home against Tulane on Sunday, February 23.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Kam Williams, G/F, Tulane

Williams averaged 7.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games for the Green Wave last week, including a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in a 5-point win over East Carolina on Wednesday, February 19.

HONORABLE MENTION

Yaxel Lendeborg, Sr., F, UAB

Lendeborg averaged 17.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the Blazers won at Rice and against South Florida last week.

Nik Graves, Jr., G, Charlotte

Graves aided Charlotte to an overtime win over Temple on Wednesday with 23 points, six assists and four rebounds.

RJ Felton, Sr., G, East Carolina

Felton averaged 24.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games for the Pirates, including a 30-point performance in a win over UTSA on Sunday.

Dain Dainja, R-Sr., F, Memphis

Dainja scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked four shots and had three steals in the Tigers’ home win over Florida Atlantic on Sunday.

Moulaye Sissoko, Sr., F, North Texas

Sissoko averaged 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Mean Green defeated Tulsa and South Florida last week.
