IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the 13th week of the regular season.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Yaxel Lendeborg, Sr., F, UAB
Lendeborg aided the Blazers to two wins last week by averaging 25.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 blocks. The senior posted 28 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four blocks against Tulsa on Wednesday, January 29, before dropping 22 points, 14 rebounds and five assists against Charlotte on Saturday, February 1.
Jamal Mashburn Jr, Gr., G, Temple
Mashburn helped lead the Owls to a pair of overtime victories this past week, averaging 33.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He scored a career-high 34 points in a double-overtime win over Charlotte on Wednesday and followed that with a 32-point performance in an overtime win over East Carolina on Saturday.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Matas Vokietaitis, C, Florida Atlantic
Vokietaitis averaged 15.0 points and 3.5 rebounds as Florida Atlantic earned two conference wins. He scored 12 points against UTSA on Wednesday before dropping 18 points against South Florida on Sunday, February 2.
HONORABLE MENTION
C.J. Walker, Gr., F, East Carolina
Walker recorded 33 points on 14-of-22 shooting with seven rebounds as the Pirates fell in overtime at Temple on Saturday.
KyKy Tandy, Gr., G, Florida Atlantic
Tandy averaged 17.0 points in two Owl wins, including 26 points and eight 3-pointers against UTSA on Wednesday night.
PJ Carter, Sr., G, Memphis
Carter averaged 16.5 points and hit nine 3-pointers over two wins for the Tigers.
Raekwon Horton, Sr., F/G, UTSA
Horton scored 23 points as the Roadrunners won on the road at North Texas on Saturday. For the week, the senior averaged 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Rowan Brumbaugh, R-So., G, Tulane
Brumbaugh averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games for the Green Wave last week.
