American Athletic Conference Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, February 3.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Illia Kunin, Sr., Tulane

Kunin set a program record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 7:52.65. It is the top time in The American and the 35th in the NCAA this season.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Goodness Iredia, Jr., South Florida

Iredia extended his program record in the long jump with a leap of 7.79 meters.  The distance leads The American and is the 10th best jump in the NCAA.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Paula Vaquera, Sr., Tulane

Vaquera broke her own program record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:17.80. It is the top time in The American this season by nearly nine seconds.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Destiny Masters, Sr., Wichita State

Masters scored 4,083 points in the pentathlon at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational. She is the leader in The American and 16th in the NCAA.
