IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country awards for the week ending Sunday, September 1.
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Shay McEvoy, R-Jr., Tulsa
In a competitive field at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Preview, McEvoy finished in second place in the 5,000-meter run to help lead the Golden Hurricane to a first-place finish against No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 3 Arkansas.
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Elyssa Toal, Sr., Florida Atlantic
Toal helped guide the Owls to a first-place team finish at the Florida Atlantic Invitational, edging out Miami (Fla.) for the top spot.. The senior earned a top five finish, claiming fifth place in the field of 76 athletes.
