American Athletic Conference Announces Cross Country Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly cross country awards for the week ending Sunday, October 15.

Men’s Athlete of the Week

Bradley Makuvire, Sr., Tulane

Makuvire finished in 2nd place in a field of 365 athletes at the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.  The senior ran the 8k race in a time of 23:04.8, beating the previous school record by over 15 seconds which was set by Emmanuel Rotich in 2016. (23:19.9)

Women’s Athlete of the Week

Gemma Rebollo, Jr., Tulane

Rebollo was the top finisher for the Green Wave at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas.  The junior completed the 6k race with a time of 19:58.3, becoming the first Tulane runner to break the 20 minute mark in school history and beating the previous program record of 20:26.7 set by Katrina Gemmell in 2001.
