American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, November 3.

Offensive Player of the Week

Gabriel Christensen, Sr., F, Memphis

Christensen helped lead Memphis to a draw against FIU, scoring the eventual game-tying goal to clinch the No. 1 seed in The American men’s soccer tournament and an outright regular season conference championship.

Defensive Player of the Week

Kemali Green, Gr., D, Temple

Green helped guide the Owls to a 1-0 win over Tulsa to secure a spot in the upcoming American Athletic Conference Championship.


Goalkeeper of the Week

Andrew Kempe, Gr., Temple

Kempe finished with five saves in the 1-0 win against Tulsa to clinch a spot in The American men’s soccer tournament.  Kempe hasn’t allowed a goal in three straight starts.

Freshman of the Week

Prince Ngeleka, F, FIU

Ngeleka scored the equalizer in the 2-2 draw against Memphis, netting his first career collegiate goal in the 65th minute.


Honorable Mention

Callum Frogson, Jr., D, Florida Atlantic
Frogson scored his first goal of the year, while also holding Charlotte to just two shots on goal to secure a spot in the upcoming conference tournament.

Noah Kvifte, Gr., F, Florida Atlantic

Kvifte scored two goals to help lift the Owls past Charlotte 6-1.

Eduardo Mustre, Sr., F, FIU

Mustre scored the opening goal for FIU in the 2-2 draw against Memphis.

Logan Longo, Gr., D, Memphis

Longo logged 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw to clinch The American regular season championship and the No. 1 seed.

Jalen Anderson, Gr., F, South Florida

Anderson scored the first goal in the 4-2 win over UAB, while adding another assist.
