Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces has dedicated four new pickleball courts at Norman and Jean Reach Park, 7895 NW 176th Street, Hialeah, FL 33015.

“I’m incredibly proud of our Parks Department for consistently ensuring that our green spaces are modernized and able to meet the evolving needs of our community,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “The addition of these pickleball courts is a fantastic enhancement to our park system, providing even more opportunities for residents to enjoy this fast-growing sport and further enriching the overall wellbeing of our residents.”

The project consisted of converting one of the park’s tennis courts into four new pickleball courts, introducing the sport to the local community. In addition, the existing tennis courts were resurfaced to enhance the tennis courts and the playing experience for park patrons.

“These four new courts address a growing need, as pickleball continues to gain popularity,” said Miami-Dade Commissioner Senator Rene Garcia. “Norman and Jean Reach Park is a hub of activity, and I’m excited that residents in the area now have this fantastic new amenity to enjoy. Maybe I will take up pickleball as part of my healthy-living regimen.”

There are 36.5 million pickleball players in the United States according to data released in January 2023 by the Association of Pickleball Professionals. For three consecutive years, pickleball has been ranked the fastest-growing sport in America, with a 158.6 % growth rate between 2020 and 2023. Miami-Dade Parks continues to provide for the growing demand of the sport, as part of the Parks Department’s mission to create outstanding recreational experiences that enhance the community’s quality of life.

“We’re excited to unveil the new pickleball courts at Norman and Jean Reach Park, offering even more outdoor recreation options for Miami-Dade County residents,” said Miami-Dade Parks Director Maria Nardi. “These four courts are part of the 76 we’ve introduced across the county, and we’re eager for the community to experience these new amenities, which help enhance the community members’ quality of life through exceptional park facilities and recreational programs.”
