Ian Gilligan was named SEC Golfer of the Week and Siuue Wu SEC Freshman of the Week.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida Gator golfers Ian Gilligan and Siuue Wu collected SEC Weekly honors, the conference office announced. Gilligan was named the conference golfer and Wu the freshman of the week.
The Gator duo helped lead Florida to a combined team title at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, totaling 19.5 points over three rounds of match play.
Gilligan earned his third career and first of the season SEC Golfer of the Week award. Wu secures the first honor of her career and is Florida’s second freshman of the week honor this season and fifth over the last two years.
Gilligan and Wu’s performances at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup:
Gilligan:
* Went undefeated in match play (3-0) at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, leading Florida to the tournament title
* Won 20 and halved 18 out of 49 holes for a mark of 77.5%
* Only lost 11 total holes across three matches
* Held wins of 4&3, 3&2 and 2up against opponents from Clemson, Charlotte and Ohio State
* One of five golfers at the event to win all three of their matches and the third Gator to do so
Wu:
* Went undefeated in match play (2-0-1) at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, leading Florida to the tournament title
* Earned wins of 5&3 and 1up against Ohio State and Charlotte, tied her opponent vs. Clemson
* Her halved match vs. Clemson earned 0.5 points for UF, helping secure 19.5 points to beat second-place Clemson who totaled 19
* Won a total of 21 holes and tied 20 holes in 51 total played for a mark of 80.3%
