American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, September 15.

Offensive Player of the Week

Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro, Sr., F, FIU
Dos Santos Monteiro scored two goals and logged an assistin two wins.  He scored a goal against No. 10 UCF to lead the Panthers to a 4-3 win over the Knights, while also adding the game-winning goal against Central Arkansas.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ian Pilcher, Sr., D, Charlotte

Pilcher anchored the backline for the 49ers that allowed just two shots on goal. It marked the third shutout of the season for Charlotte.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Nacho Alfaro, Gr., Florida Atlantic

Alfaro finished with a win in the net for the Owls, coming away with two saves in the 2-0 win over North Florida.

Freshman of the Week

Marcelo Mondragon, M, South Florida

Mondragon scored the game-winning goal for South Florida as the Bulls took down UC Irvine 2-1.


Honorable Mention

Leo Stritter, Jr., GK, Charlotte

Stritter recorded two saves as the 49ers recorded their third shutout in five games.

Anthony DiFalco, Jr., M, Memphis

DiFalco scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 1-1 draw against SIUE.

Mamadou Diarra, Sr., F, Florida Atlantic

Diarra scored both goals for the Owls to lead Florida Atlantic to a 2-0 win over North Florida

Callum Frogson, Jr., D, Florida Atlantic

Frogson anchored the backline for the Owls that allowed just two shots on goal in the shutout win over North Florida.

Gunnar Studenhofft, Sr., F, South Florida

Studenhofft scored the opening goal for the Bulls in the 2-1 win over UC Irvine.
