American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the matches of the week ending Sunday, September 17.

Offensive Player of the Week

Brigham Larsen, Jr., F, Charlotte

Larsen helped guide the 49ers to a conference opening win over UAB, scoring two goals and assisting on another in the 3-0 win over the Blazers.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lasse Laursen, Jr., D, Charlotte

Laursen anchored the backline for the 49ers that kept UAB on lock, not allowing a shot on goal in the 3-0 win to begin conference play.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Cole Johnson, Sr., SMU

Johnson finished with a clean sheet against Yale and helped the Mustangs earn the win over Memphis with four saves.

Rookie of the Week

Bowen McCloud, Fr., M, Tulsa

McCloud came off the bench to score the game-winning goal for the Golden Hurricane against Florida Atlantic.

Weekly Honor Roll

Eduardo Mustre, Jr., F, FIU

Mustre scored a goal for the Panthers in the conference-opening win over Temple.

Jalen Anderson, Gr., ST, South Florida

Anderson had a brace against Elon, scoring the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win.

Salvo scored the game-winning goal against (RV) Memphis to help the Mustangs pick up the conference opening win.
