Gainesville, Fla. – Gators Experience, in partnership with Truist Bank, Florida Blue, and Tower Hill Insurance announces the revamp of the Goodwill Gators program.
This program allows student-athletes the opportunity to service the surrounding Gainesville community through philanthropic events and aid. Gators Experience services the University of Florida’s student-athletes in four key areas of development: Career, Community, Leadership, and Personal. During the 2022-23 athletic year, 73% of student-athletes engaged in various Gators Experience programs across all sports.
As the calendar turns towards another year of giving back, initiatives like Goodwill Gators will be largely impactful to the neighboring areas of the University of Florida. Last year, 284 student-athletes from all 21 teams served in community service events totaling 3,168 total hours of community service. Additionally, Gators established an economic impact of $100,766 with their commitment to enhancing Gainesville’s philanthropic needs.
Throughout the year, specific events have become staples among Florida student-athletes. From donating 400+ pairs of shoes to 12 regional elementary schools through the Gator Tracks initiative to hosting over 80 individuals with disabilities at Gators Field Day, Florida’s student-athletes have generated a lasting impact for those most in need. Outside of semi-annual events, Goodwill Gators has led student-athletes to embark on weekly visits to local organizations including UF Health Shands Hospital and Alachua County Public Schools.
Now in collaboration with corporate partners Truist Bank, Florida Blue, and Tower Hill Insurance, Goodwill Gators will maximize their efforts and continue to provide a championship experience for both student-athletes and the Gainesville community.
