Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced that Miami-Dade County continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state of Florida and the nation with only a 2.2 percent unemployment level, down from 2.5 percent just one year ago.
“After the pandemic, Miami-Dade County became the most recovered economy in the nation, and the numbers continue to prove it,” said County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “With continued growth in economic activity in Miami-Dade, there are more opportunities than ever for all our residents to thrive in our economy. My economic development and innovation team works alongside Miami-Dade’s private sector to ensure our continued economic growth translates into opportunities for all our residents, including career pathways for good-paying jobs in the fastest-growing sectors.”
Miami’s private sector job market has experienced a 4.1 percent increase, with 45,400 jobs added in May 2023 alone. According to a statement from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, “the Miami metro area gained the third-highest number of private sector jobs over the year in May 2023 among all metro areas,” with 15,300 jobs in education and health services, and 12,700 jobs in professional and business services. In comparison, Florida’s private sector employment increased by 3.9 percent, faster than the nation’s private sector job growth rate of 2.7 percent.
