‘Origins: An NFL Collection’ Returns for Second Year ahead of Super Bowl LVII in Arizona

Merchandise collection to highlight Arizona brands: Ashley Macias, Elias Jade Not Afraid, Manor, and OXDX

Launch event to take place February 8 at The Showcase Room in Farmers Arts District in Tempe, AZ

New York, NY – (January 18, 2023) The National Football League (NFL) announced today the return of Origins: An NFL Collection ahead of Super Bowl LVII in Arizona, featuring Arizona-based design brands Ashley Macias, Elias Jade Not Afraid, Manor, and OXDX.

Launched last year for Super Bowl LVI, Origins: An NFL Collection is a grassroots merchandise collaboration program to celebrate the cultural richness of NFL event host cities and the design talent sprouting from those communities. Ashley MaciasElias Jade Not Afraid, Manor, and OXDX will produce exclusive capsule lines of merchandise, forming a one-of-a-kind Super Bowl LVII collection, that reflects their Arizona roots combined with a passion for NFL football.

As part of the program, the NFL selected four brands with unique ties to Arizona to collaborate with the League:

  • Ashley Macias, an Arizona-based artist, creates murals birthing surreal imagery reflective of her human experience, pulling inspiration from people, the cosmic universe, and all living things
  • Elias Jade Not Afraid,founded by an Apsaalooke Nation bead artist, who created a home in Whitecone, Arizona, is a beadwork accessories line that keeps Native American traditions alive
  • Manor, an independent lifestyle brand, as well as a community-centered retail establishment, is home to the culture, grit, and creative pulse of Phoenix
  • OXDXis an indigenous-founded fashion label that specializes in digital art, cut and sew apparel, and collaborations as an ongoing project to bring indigenous stories to the forefront

“Last year’s collection brought together a talented group of designers who created NFL-licensed Super Bowl LVI merchandise with an LA flair that resonated with our growing fashion-focused fanbase,” said Joe Ruggiero, SVP of Consumer Products at the NFL. “Now in its second year, Origins: An NFL Collection, will serve as a platform for design talent in Arizona through the origin stories behind Ashley Macias, Elias Jade Not Afraid, Manor, and OXDX.”

The NFL will host a pop-up retail launch event in Tempe, Arizona at The Showcase Room on February 8 to celebrate the launch of the capsule lines. Fans can exclusively shop the collection while enjoying music, refreshments, and local entertainment. The event is free to the public. To register, visit NFL.com/origins. For fans outside of Arizona, select styles from the collection will be sold online at NFLShop.com/origins beginning February 9.

The NFL will also bring back LA-based directing duo madebyJAMES from the production company, BASEWOOD, to direct video features on each of the brands that will document each designer’s journey as a part of this year’s program.

OXDX was founded by artist, Jared Kee Yazzie, a Diné self-taught graphic designer and printmaker. Yazzie has been producing fashion design since 2009 and now operates a workshop and storefront with partner Allie Stone in Tempe, Arizona. Allie is a textile artist and weaver who acts as OXDX’s head seamstress and business manager. Allie’s contribution to the brand since 2018 has been the driving force to OXDX’s most recent successes, which include features in Vogue, USA Today, the Huffington Post, WWD, Salon, and HighSnobiety. OXDX is an acronym for the word “overdose”, which Yazzie uses to describe the state of the world and how it relates to the Native experience.
