Taravella High School has a new varsity football coach. Clenner Goodman is leading the team and he believes the Trojans can have a good season this year.
“We have a promising and talented team. The kids are more dedicated, and they are working hard to get ready for the season,” said Goodman He most recently was assistant head coach at Blanche Ely. He has also coached flag football.
Last year the Trojans struggled and did not win a game. Goodman wants to turn that around and get this year’s players to buy into the program. “I want the players to feel comfortable with what we are doing. I want their input into making this team a success. I see that the players we have are enthusiastic and they want to get ready for the season.”
The Trojans open on the road against Everglades on August 26. Their first home game is against South Plantation on September 2 at 4:00 p.m. Taravella is playing home games but because the field has no lights the games start at 4:00 p.m. The Trojans will play Hallandale, Pines Charter, Western, Pompano, Cypress Bay, Coral Glades, Coral Springs Charter and Coral Springs.
