The Pompano Beach Fire Rescue will be conducting Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes beginning Thursday, August 4th. Classes are held every Thursday for eight consecutive weeks from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Training Center. Over 1,000 people have already graduated from this popular program that fosters a great sense of community pride. The Pompano Beach CERT training is free. You must be a City resident or business owner.

CERT is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) nationwide training program that educates citizens and business owners in the event of a catastrophic disaster. The classes offer information and interactive training on several important aspects of emergency management. CERT classes teach disaster preparedness response skills such as how to identify and anticipate hazards, extinguish small fires, conduct light search and rescue, assist emergency responders, apply basic medical techniques and learn to reduce hazards in the home and workplace. CERT members are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
