The Coral Springs passed several ordinances and resolutions at the June 2 meeting.
It agreed to a resolution on first reading to increase taxes on city businesses by five percent. Some members of the commission expressed concern about the increase because some businesses are struggling because of the pandemic. The ordinance is entitled “Local Business Tax Receipt and Business Regulations.” There will be a final hearing on June 16.
The Commission agreed to a resolution to amend the use of HOME Investment Partnership Funds in the amount of $961,818 from Home Repair to Purchase Assistance. It approved the amendment and allowed staff to transmit approval to the Broward County HOME Consortium for approval.
It agreed to award a contract worth $300,000 to Shenandoah General Construction of Pompano Beach for sewer stormwater, line and manhole rehabilitation. Funding is from the Capital Budget.
The Commission agreed to a contract worth $221,987 to Anzco, Inc of Boca Raton for City Hall Security Renovations.
It agreed to a contract worth $133,750 to LTG Sports Turf One for Cypress North Baseball Field Renovations.
It agreed to enter into an agreement with the School Board of Broward County to provide school resource officers during the summer.
