2020 Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship Bracket Unveiled

INDIANAPOLIS – Following the end of the regular season on Saturday, the Horizon League revealed the bracket for the 2020 Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship which culminates March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Wright State earned the No. 1 seed with its first outright regular season championship in program history after finishing the #HLMBB season with a 15-3 mark. Northern Kentucky is the No. 2 seed after finishing 13-5 in Horizon League play for the second-straight season. Both teams earned a double-bye to the semifinals and will play in Indianapolis on March 9.
Green Bay recorded a 74-67 win over Cleveland State, its fourth victory in the last five games, to earn the No. 3 seed and a bye to Thursday’s quarterfinal round where they will host the lowest-remaining seed following Tuesday’s first round games. UIC secured the No. 4 seed after going 1-1 this week as the Flames hold the tiebreaker over Youngstown State who also finished 10-8.
YSU is the No. 5 seed for the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship after claiming a win over Milwaukee, 73-69, in the regular-season finale. Oakland earned the final first round home game as the No. 6 seed after winning five out of its last six games including a 68-66 victory on Saturday at UIC. Rounding out the seeds are Cleveland State at No. 7, who holds a tiebreaker over the Panthers with a series sweep this season, followed by Milwaukee at No. 8 and IUPUI at No. 9.
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships will begin March 3 and 5 at campus sites and eight teams – four men and four women – will look to advance to Indianapolis and #REACHtheHORIZON on March 9-10 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Every game of the tournament will be carried on ESPN networks with the first round and quarterfinal games streamed on ESPN+. The first semifinal game in Indianapolis will be on ESPNU starting at 7 p.m. ET followed by semifinal No. 2 on ESPN2 at 9:30 p.m. ET. The championship game will broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, March 10.
Tuesday, March 3 begins first-round action with three games beginning with No. 5 Youngstown State hosting No. 8 Milwaukee and No. 6 Oakland welcoming No. 7 Cleveland State at 7 p.m. ET. No. 9 seed IUPUI travels to No. 4 seed UIC at 8 p.m. ET to close out the night.
On Thursday, March 5, No. 3 Green Bay will play the lowest-remaining seed, while the highest-remaining seed from Tuesday’s first round will host the second lowest-remaining seed for a chance to join top seeds Wright State and Northern Kentucky in Indianapolis for the semifinals.
